Parker Awards The Hope Group
Connector Technology Center Status

Tony Cantone, VP Sales, announced at the Employee Recognition Night that Parker had awarded The Hope Group with the coveted designation as a Connector Technology Center. The designation was achieved following an exhaustive evaluation by Parker of its 159 national distributors, which culminated with only five of the 159 distributors earning the CTC designation.

According to Tony, the company participated in Parker’s Management and Performance evaluation, also known as MAP. As part of the MAP evaluation, The Hope Group was evaluated in 36 performance categories that Parker considered critical for a distributor to score well on as a Connector Technology Center. “The evaluation took into consideration a broad range of criteria including our financial strength, the strength of our management team, our strategic planning, our sales and marketing capabilities, customer service levels, and sales performance over time,” said Tony.

For years Parker Hannifin had two levels or classifications of Fluid Connector distributors. The top level has been their “Full Line” distributors and below that was their “General Line” classification. The Hope Group has always been classified as a ‘Full Line” Parker Fluid Connector distributor. For 2015 Parker created a third, higher classification for fluid connector distributors that would represent their top tier of distributors and would be based on an evaluation of distributors’ proficiencies and capabilities. Parker’s term for this highest class of distributor is “Connector Technology Center” or CTC.

To achieve CTC status all 159 Parker Fluid Connector distributors including the Hope Group participated in Parker’s Management and Performance Evaluation, also known as MAP. As part of the MAP evaluation The Hope Group was evaluated in 36 performance categories that Parker considered critical for a distributor to score well on as a Technology Center. The evaluation took into consideration a broad range of criteria including our Financial Strength, the strength of our management team and strategic planning, our sales team and marketing capabilities, customer service levels and of course sales performance over time.

“I am pleased to say that The Hope Group achieved Parker’s ‘Highest Distributor Ranking’ score in 33 of the 36 criteria and thereby has achieved and been awarded Connector Technology Center status by Parker beginning January 1, 2016. To give you some perspective on this achievement- out the 159 national Fluid Connector distributors who were evaluated only 5 scored high enough to be achieve CTC status. Some, in fact, dropped down a tier from their existing status! This achievement is the product of the entire THG team of professionals. We are proud of our team’s performance and congratulate them on this award.”

Parker Recognizes The Hope Group

There is no higher challenge than meeting or exceeding the goals established by Parker Hannifin for its distributors than its "Diamond Team Award."In a recent round of evaluations, The Hope Group earned the Diamond Team Award from the Fluid Connector Division and from the Hydraulics Division. It was a rare feat to win the award in both categories. It's difficult enough to exceed the challenging goals in one category; winning in two categories was remarkable.

In accepting the awards on behalf of The Hope Group, Tony Cantone, VP Sales, said "We accept this recognition from Parker on behalf of the entire outside sales, inside sales, customer service, engineering, and technical support team." Tony described the achievement as based on the company meeting or exceeding sales volume goals overall, and for specific goals among selected target accounts. Magazine Cover Story Highlights THG Corp

It's always flattering to be recognized for achievements accomplished over many years based on a personal and corporate commitment to excellence and positive results. But, to have someone take pictures and write extensively about it in a nationally distributed trade publication is very special. In its cover story, Industrial Distribution magazine highlighted the history, innovation and future challenges of The Hope Group, Hope Air Systems, and Sorensen Systems.

In describing the company it stated that the The Hope Group was using an integrated approach to business by combining distribution, fabrication, and engineering to reach new markets in New England and beyond. The author, Victoria Fraza Kickham, wrote, "As recently as 20 years ago, 40 percent of this fluid power distributor's business was serving New England's machine tool and plastic injection molding industries. Today, THG Corp does less than two percent of its business in those markets."

The article pointed out that today, the company was focused on selling components and systems to OEM's in the semiconductor industry, to designing and building motion and control solutions for customer's in the marine industry, and developing inventory management systems for a medical industry customer. The market in New England, and the world, has changed and the company changed with it. The magazine article is available to read to learn more about The Hope Group.

Every year at The Hope Group, a group of employees volunteer to spend a day working at a local non-profit agency performing a variety of good deeds, such as painting a school, clearing brush from a playground, or even harvesting a crop of vegetables, all part of a the United Way's annual Day of Caring. And each year, Fritz Zuegg, a long-term THG employee promotes the event, recruits the volunteers and spearheads the actual day's activities. He's what the United Way calls an Employee Campaign Coordinator. He's what we call the Credit Manager.

Our Credit Manager managed to earn special recognition from the United Way when they invited him to attend a special event held at the Worcester Mechanic's Hall where he was formally presented with an Award as the Outstanding Employee Campaign Coordinator during a recent United Way campaign year. The plaque signifying his achievement was presented in front of the crowd and as usual, Fritz managed not to make a speech. But, since he won the award he hasn't changed much. He set about getting the next year's group of volunteers signed up. Thanks for your service, Fritz.
