The Hope Group LLC Anchors
Parker's Presence in New England
The Hope Group is a privately-held company founded in 1933 by the Rhoten family of Massachusetts. Originally established to provide industrial rubber products for consumers and industry, the company expanded into fluid power products in 1960 through its affiliation as an authorized distributor for Parker Hannifin.
More recently the company established itself as a source for motion and control system solutions, incorporating its core competencies in hydraulics, pneumatics, fluid connectors, automation, filtration, electrical & electronic control systems, sealing solutions, and compressed air packages. As a full-line distributor for Parker, it has earned the designation as a Technology Center for Hydraulics, Pneumatics and Mobile components and systems.
The Hope Group operates six ParkerStores in four of the New England states. The company is headquartered in Northborough, MA, where it operates from a 60,000 square foot manufacturing and distribution center. With over $45 million in annual sales, 120 employees, and access to over $100 million in motion control inventory through its affiliation with DistraNet, the company is well positioned to build on its strength as a leading independent motion and control product and systems solutions provider.
Why "The Hope Group" Name?
Although the company was incorporated as the Fitchburg Rubber Company in 1933, the original company had actually started prior to the turn of the century in Providence, RI, which was known as the City of Hope. The name Hope Rubber Company was adopted after World War II and has carried forward ever since, including its most recent name change to The Hope Group. The Hope Group has grown successfully over the past few decades through a combination of market penetration and acquisition of regionally significant companies. The Hope Group operates The Leen Company, Bosworth Fluid Connectors and Webster Engineering as part of its group.
Corporate headquarters moved to Northborough, MA, in 1985, where it built a modern, 60,000 square foot manufacturing and distribution center to support its operations throughout New England. Together, with its other five locations, The Hope Group has over 100,000 square feet of warehousing, fabrication and administration facilities to complement its manufacturing capacity.
