Pleasurecraft Windlasses The Muir pleasure craft windlasses suit vessels 6 meters to 30 meters in length. These windlasses are designed to provide the smaller boat operator with a superior anchoring system that eases the workload of the operator, enabling increased time to be spent enjoying the boating experience.
Vertical and Horizontal Configurations Muir windlasses are available in vertical and horizontal configurations, depending upon the requirements of the vessel and owner, and often the necessary orientation of the drive shaft. The innovative Atlantic and Freefall Series of Vertical Windlasses and Compact Series of Horizontal Windlasses provide choices for the most discerning boat owner. All pleasure craft windlasses can be powered by 12 volt, 24 volt, hydraulic or manual hand operation. There is also the option of manual override / operating system on all powered units for additional safety in emergency or low power situations.
Many Standard Features Muir windlasses come with many important features as standard and a range of options. All Muir windlasses are manufactured with the highest quality marine grade components including chromed or polished bronze, bronze running gear with stainless steel drive shafts & fastenings. The Horizontal ranges of powder coated marine alloy housings retain their strength and style. A full list of standard and optional features is available for all windlass models.
Motor drives and gears below deck are finished in white gloss epoxy and with non-corrosive weight saving marine alloy components use where practicable. Standard builds are bronze with luxury-chromed finish and capstans have a knurled waist for maximum grip. Triple chrome plating with a minimum of 35 microns is used in windlass production. Chrome plating consists of copper, nickel and chrome. All running gear is high tensile bronze. Main drive shaft and fastenings are 316 stainless steel. Devil claws, chain stoppers, bow rollers, anchors and chain are available to suit windlass selection for all size yachts.

The mega and super yacht systems are designed for installations on vessels up to 110 meters in length, and can incorporate docking capstans, chain compressors, devil claw arrangements, control panels and switching gear for a complete system. Standard builds are bronze with a luxury - chromed finish and with knurled capstans for maximum line grip. Units can be supplied in polished bronze, chrome bronze, stainless steel, alloy or cast steel or a combination of both to suit designer and owner requirements. Triple chrome plating with a minimum of 35 microns is used in production for Super Yacht equipment.
