Parker Tech Tour Truck
Five years ago, Parker Hannifin introduced its "Innovation in Motion" Tech Tour as a mobile promotional and training classroom to support its Distributors across the country. The Parker Tech Tour Truck features interactive demonstrations, exhibits, new products and systems, and technical training designed to bring a hands-on experience for Parker customers.
The Hope Group has sponsored the Parker Tech Tour Truck visits many times over the past five years, including visits to many of its ParkerStores and direct visits to its OEM and MRO customers throughout New England. One of the most successful visits was during the recent 75th Anniversary of THG Corporation, which featured 10 consecutive days of visits that netted over 800 on-board visits to the Parker Tech Tour Truck.
The truck consists of a tractor and trailer with a combined length of nearly 80 feet. Together, the tractor and trailer weigh 79,000 lbs. The vehicle has several display areas including an 8 x 9 foot section that contains a six-passenger "motion simulator" ride. The vehicle travels across the country making daily stops at ParkerStores, Parker Distributors and at selected customers identified by local Distributors.
Parker Training Classes
The training classes offer a variety of subjects including hydraulic maintenance, servo and proportional valves, dry technology plumbing, tube fabrication and many more. The truck is capable of offering a classroom for up to 12 participants on board. Larger classes are conducted under the awning in good weather and inside customer locations as well. Classes are taught by Distributor personnel or Parker territory managers as appropriate. A typical day includes set-up time, scheduled morning training classes, a luncheon with an open trailer period, followed by an afternoon training session and tear-down.
Available training classes include three
major categories:
- Technology Focus
- Fluid Connectors Focus
- Hydraulics Focus
The Technology Focus features:
- Hydraulic Maintenance
- Servo and Proportional Valves
- Cartridge Valve Technology
- Hydraulic Graphic Symbology
- Proper Sizing of Pneumatic Systems
The Fluid Connectors Focus features:
- Dry Technology
- Tube Fabrication
- Thread Identification (metric)
- Guide for Hose Failure Analysis
The Hydraulic Focus features:
- Compact Hydraulics
- Fan Drive Systems
Motion Simulator Ride
One of the most anticipated aspects of the Parker Tech Tour Truck visit is the opportunity for customers to experience the "motion simulator" ride on board the vehicle. The "ride", which is produced by Doron Precision Systems, is known as the Transport 6 Entertainment Simulator. The machine provides up to six riders with a simulation of being in a race car. The simulator is powered by a complete Parker system, including hydraulics and fluid connector products used to integrate motion and video for a smooth ride.
