Northborough, MA (08-01-2012) – Tony Cantone, President of The Hope Group, today announced that the company has scheduled a half-day Technical Seminar for Life Sciences to be held Thursday, September 27, 2012 at its headquarters here. In cooperation with Parker Hannifin, The Hope Group is welcoming expert presenters from Parker who will lead the individual sessions.
Practical Use of FEA
Shu Peng, PhD, Engineering Manager for the Medical Systems Division at Parker will discuss the practical use of FEA (Finite Element Analysis) for medical silicone rubber components. As FEA has been increasingly adopted and integrated into the design process of complex medical devices it is important to learn about its proper use. Dr. Peng will discuss how proper use of FEA can greatly improve both speed and quality of product design as well as reduce the overall cost. Rubber parts such as silicone diaphragms, septums, seals, valves, tubing and balloons are critical components in many of today’s medical devices.
Elastomers for Medical Sealing
Dan Ewing, New Product Development Manager, Parker O-ring Division, will lead a discussion on the pros and cons of the different seal materials available for medical applications, including real-world advice on material selection. New technologies on the horizon will also be covered. In addition, Rebecca Smith, Business Development Manager for Parker Tech Seal Division, will discuss extruded thermoset and thermoplastic elastomers capabilities.
The Technology Seminars are designed to introduce new technologies to design engineers, process engineers, production managers, and others involved in new designs. These seminars are no cost courtesy of The Hope Group and Parker.
