Accumulators

Piston Parker Accumulators. 3000 SeriesWe provide Parker accumulators because of their quality standards and competitive lead times. Parker accumulators are certified to ASME standards, and the bladders are engineered and molded at Parker’s own in-house manufacturing operations.

What do hydraulic accumulators do?

Accumulators store pressurized hydraulic fluid and release it as needed to maintain consistent pump flow and pressure. A hydraulic pump raises system pressure and forces fluid to enter the accumulator. The piston or bladder moves and compresses the nitrogen gas volume because pressure of the fluid exceeds the precharge pressure. This is where the stored energy comes from. Valves control oil flow in and out.

When system and gas pressures are balanced, the movement stops. Hydraulic system pressure falls and the accumulator releases the stored, pressurized fluid to the hydraulic circuit when a something downstream such as actuator movement creates system demand. When movement stops, the charging cycle begins again. Accumulator charging kits help check, adjust and fill nitrogen into hydraulic accumulators.

Hydraulic accumulators compensate for changes in fluid such as thermal expansion in the system as well as leaks. They also reduce vibration and shock, which can disrupt flow to or from the pump.

Piston accumulators (Olaer)

  • Ideal choice for when fluid storage energy, hydraulic shock absorption, auxiliary power, or supplemental pump flow is required.
  • Can be customized according to size and pressure required.
  • Available in carbon steel and stainless steel.

Bladder accumulators (Greer)

  • Good for storing energy under pressure, hydraulic shock absorption, and reducing pump pulsation and fluctuations in flow.
  • Suited for industrial, energy, marine and mobile markets.
  • Available in carbon steel and stainless steel.

Diaphragm accumulators (AD series also called membrane accumulators)

  • Best when you are searching for an affordable, lightweight and compact solution.
  • Safe, non-repairable design.
  • Operating pressures reach up to 250 Bar (3625.94 psi).
  • Capacities from .075 to 2.80 Liters.
  • Available in steel.
